Piermont, NY - Plumb designing identity and collateral for The Piermont Historical Society - The PHS was founded two years ago to "preserve and protect" the cultural environment and history of this gem of the lower Hudson River Valley. Among the initial projects undertaken was the ongoing restoration of the "Resort Gothic" 19th Century railroad station that was shut down in the 1960's.

In order to raise money to undertake this and other projects, the PHS last year established an annual Celebration of The Best of Piermont which will be repeated on July 30th of this year, taking place at Lord's Castle in Piermont. This $175-a-head event was and will be catered by Peter Kelly, legendary chef of Xaviar's and Freelance, both in Piermont, and both rated by Zagat as the number one and number two restaurants in Southern New York State including Westchester County. The castle, built in the 1850s, by Eleazar Lord, first president of the Erie Railroad and a founder of the Sunday School Movement, was then renovated by his decendants in the 1890s with plans drawn by the famous architectural firm of McKim Meade and White some of which are on view today.

As in the case of the event last year, Plumb is designing the collateral material and, at the same time, is designing a new graphic identity for the parent organization, The Piermont Historical Society.

Pozzoli Patent Infringement Lawsuit - Pozzoli, S.p.A. is one of Europe's premier compact disc packaging manufacturers. As a result of his broad experience in optical disc packaging for Queens Group, Shorewood Packaging and AGIMedia, Bill Plumb was asked to provide expert witness testimony in a patent infringement trial in London resulting from Pozzoli's instituting a lawsuit against three other companies in the EU accused of copying Pozzoli's patented designs. Unlike the court practice in the US, appearing as an expert witness in the UK involves acting as advisor to the court as opposed to one side or the other in helping the court to arrive at a ruling that is fair and equitable.
